Emma and the Salomon Klein staff recently received a newborn girl who arrived under very difficult circumstances. Baby G. was found abandoned by the side of a highway. A woman who just happened to stop her car for a rest break was startled by rustling noise next to her, and when she looked down, she saw badly sunburned infant. After Baby G. was turned over to the authorities, she was brought to Salomon Klein, which is one of the only orphanages in Cochabamba that accepts newborns. After many weeks of intensive medical treatment at Salomon Klein and a local hospital, Baby G. began to thrive. The caretakers in the baby room, along with many support staff, were able to nurse her to health and give her the love and care that she so desperately needed. Today, Baby G. is a beautiful, healthy, smiley, three-month old delight of a baby who will mercifully have no memory of her tragic beginnings. It took a large, loving effort to get Baby G. to this point, and she will continue to progress under Salomon Klein’s care until one day she could hopefully find a loving family.
The staff at Salomon Klein do so much more than feed and clothe the kids. They also help the children explore their artistic side. Some of the five year old children recently learned to make key chains and adjustable bracelets from sturdy nylon yarn and wooden beads. As you can see from the video, D. has become very proficient at getting the process started. The kids are so proud of the finished products! We were lucky enough to come back from our August visit to Salomon Klein with a bag full of the bracelets made by the orphans’ wonderful, tiny hands. In gratitude for your contributions of $100 or more, while supplies last, we will send you one of these beautiful bracelets as a small token of our gratitude. Christmas 2017 at the Salomon Klein Orphanage. Children singing, dancing and having such an amazing time. Mama Emma and the incredible staff at the orphanage do such a great job making sure all the 180+ children feel the holiday spirit, one that they might not have experienced in their original home environments. Its truly a blessing to see. <3
