Just received from the Salomon Klein Orphanage images of the children dressed up for Halloween. They look so cute! :). Glass are on them to protect their privacy. This is what the Friends of Salomon Klein was founded: to give these orphans hope and joy.

At the Salomon Klein Orphanage, stories about how these children become orphaned can tug at your heart and soul. They are the innocent, the vulnerable, lost in an unpredictable world.
One of our volunteers from Florida, staying in Cochabamba for an extended period of time, paid the orphanage a visit this weekend. Her original intent was to interact with the existing children and show them love, even for only a couple hours. But when she got there, news of a new arrival from the day before was brought to her. This infant was 2-3 days old, wrapped in plastic and dumped next to a trash can. The only way the authorities were aware of the infant was the street dogs barking at the crying baby. This story is not uncommon for new children coming to Salomon Klein. Children come from all sorts of circumstances. Ariana, as she is now called, is safe and sound at the orphanage. But it this is why Salomon Klein is so important and why the Friends of Salomon Klein started. Without orphanages like this in Bolivia, the end result for this infant could have been fatal. Your support helps to continue the great efforts at this orphanage, bring hope to these children. Thank you! (The pic of the infant is blurred to protect her identity) Everyone loves cookies for the holidays!
The Friends of Salomón Klein kicked off the first Cookie for Kids drive to raise money for holiday gifts for the orphans. The selections ranged from traditional cookies, sugar cookies, brownies, crumb cakes and pound cakes. We even have volunteers in Bolivia starting their own cookie drive! The bakery who is making the items is Uncle Ralph's cookies in Frederick, MD. And as always, 100 percent of the profits go towards the orphans!
